Tenaris to restart heat treatment line at Koppel mill

HOUSTON, Texas — Tenaris is preparing to adapt its heat treatment and finishing lines at its Koppel, Pennsylvania, facility to streamline the seamless product flow at its Northeast facility.
Heat treatment lines are part of the manufacturing process that imparts the required metallurgical properties to the pipe to enhance the performance of oil and gas wells. The line, which has been idle during the 2020 downturn, is located at Tenaris’ smelting shop in Koppel, which started producing steel in June 2021 after a year-long investment of more than $15 million.
“With production lines back up and running, our Koppel steel mill, our seamless steel mill in Ambridge, PA, and our finishing operations in Brookfield, Ohio, are able to more efficiently handle piping and complete cargo management for our northeast loop. ,” said Tenaris US President Luca Zanotti.
Tenaris will make an investment of approximately $3.5 million to update IT and automation systems, non-destructive testing equipment and maintenance activities to ensure that equipment on the production line is in a state of readiness when it begins in April 2022.Tenaris is looking to recruit around 75 employees to run the heat treatment and finishing lines.Production at the company’s Ambridge seamless mill is increasing, and as a result, activity at the Brookfield plant will also increase, and the company plans to increase its local team by about 70 people to support the increase in threading and finishing of Ambridge pipes.
“From our offices, to our manufacturing floor, to our service centers, our teams have been working very hard to scale up operations in a short period of time. This is a strategic reboot of our U.S. industrial network, designed to be flexible and precise way to better serve a stronger market,” Zanotti said.
Since the end of 2020, Tenaris has increased its U.S. workforce by 1,200 and has been operating at its factories in Bay City, Houston, Baytown and Conroe, Texas, as well as Koper and Ambury, Pennsylvania Odd’s factory ramped up and restarted production, as well as Brookfield, OH.Announced last month, the price of hot-rolled coil also enables it to increase production at its welding operations in Hickman, Arkansas.By the end of 2022, Tenaris expects to hire an additional 700 employees as part of its U.S. expansion.

The facility has been sold 6-7 times in the past 10 years. They will let you die for a few years and then fire you for a year or more. It’s not a good life.I know I worked there for 20 years. In fact, I was there when B&W was a good company. So in my opinion, run away as fast as you can
